Final Expenses Cover provides a lump sum payment of up to $15,000 on the death of the insured person. This payment can be used for any purpose including assisting with the costs associated with a funeral and paying off any outstanding bills or small debts.
With Final Expenses Cover you can choose either Stepped or Level premiums. With Level Premiums you pay more to start with but your premiums are not recalculated each year according to your age. This means that your premiums will only go up if the amount of cover you have increases.
Final Expenses Cover with Level Premiums comes with a unique special feature which gives you the option to convert the cover on any life insured to a ‘Paid Up’ insurance after you’ve held the cover for 10 or more years. So, if for any reason you decide not to continue your cover after 10 years, you have the security of knowing that you won’t lose all the value of the premiums you’ve paid.
Final Expenses Cover also comes with another very special offer - your first year’s premiums are waived which means there is absolutely nothing to pay for a full 12 months!
It’s really very simple. If you decide not to continue the cover at any time after 10 years, a percentage of the average amount of cover you have had during that time will be ‘locked in’ and you won’t have to pay any more premiums. The percentages are
40% if you have held the cover for 10-14 years
60% if you have held the cover for 15-19 years
80% if you have held the cover for 20-24 years
100% if you have held the cover for more than 25 years
So for example, if you have had an average of $10,000 cover for 15 years and you decide to convert your cover and stop paying premiums you will retain a benefit of $6,000 (60% of $10,000) which will be paid to you or your beneficiaries at claim time.
